Cadran is a light clock. Inspired by the sundial, it questions our relationship to time and the way we perceive it. Sunlight is replaced by an artificial light which, through a thin rod, casts a shadow that shifts subtly with the time of day. The bush-hammered granite base catches a raking light that brings out the details of the stone and the sparkle of the quartz. Time goes by, but the anxiety of being on time to the minute is gone.
